Break In Prevention

Can a thief open your garage door and break into your home?  The answer…YES!  Although older model garage doors are designed well and effectively, they do leave your garage open to determined intruders.  These video links show you how a burglar can gain quick access to your home and simple ways that you can prevent it.

Luckily, there are cheap solutions to prevent such opportunities for home invasion.  A small zip tie is all you need.  Here are 3 simple steps:

  1. Place a zip tie through the hole the emergency rope is in.
  2. Connect it through the hole of the shuttle above and tighten.
  3. Tie them together.

Problem solved.  The zip tie is strong enough to prevent a coat hanger from pulling down the emergency release.

Securing a wood board to the top of the garage door is another preventative method.  Nailing or screwing a two-by-four will do the trick.  Now the would-be intruder will not be able to get a hanger inside your garage in the first place.
